frozen in time

The "frozen in time" series from the last day of my exchange in Paris. These photos remind me of how much i wanted time to stay still on that day, so that i need not leave the city that i fell in love with.

A place to find relief by basking in the limited sun of winter.

Sometimes, solitude brings about fortitude.

Ever had a life-changing idea sprout up in your head before, only to lose it after a few seconds?

Frozen both ways - inside and outside

Perhaps things will remain the same when I sleep - hope they are still around when I awake.

Wrestle as much as you want; sometimes it is easier to let go.

Can imagine the nice scenary there, but got comments on them.

The first one there is too much space on top of the head. The shadow of the bird kind of spoil the statue, too bad no one with reflector there to help you.

The second one would work better by just blurring out the background more, imo. PS away the plant that is disturbing the statue at the bottom.

The third one, I think looks quite decent, however the trees on top of the statue somehow distracts people - leading line tend to divert attention away from focal. Maybe blurring out the background would make it better? Have to try to see.

The 4th one, imo, should zoom in more to the statue and ice. A lot of distractions otherwise.

5th one ah... cropped off le bah, too much space at middle and bottom.

6th too. Should zoom in more on wrestling statue and cut away the space.

Oh yah, anyways, feel free to delete the comments. :D

haha .. thanks for your comments!

how should i put it .. the first one, the focus was more of the birdies than the statue. as for the second one, yeah the plant at the bottom is distracting. but the background is also important to my composition i feel, cos of the emphasis on nothing being there. well, as for the third one, the leading line draws out the branch growing from the head of the statue, so it kinda fulfills its purpose. 4th one, i have to agree, but i was too short to take the shot without distractions.

5th one, the space is intentional, because i want the viewer to see that the statue is lying down and half covered with ice. crop them off, and i think it will lose the lying down feeling.

last one, perhaps you are right, just wanted to use the space as a substitute for a field.

=)

but still, thanks for your comments ziang, appreciate them. maybe you can suggest how i should change the photos now that i have explained a bit more of why the spaces and flaws exist.
